On Thursday December 17th crews were dispatched to Lovedale Road at Mill Hill Road in Lincoln for a vehicle on its side with one person still inside.  Crews arrived to find a minivan on its side with one male patient inside with minor injuries.  Rescue crews cut the roof and helped package the patient for transport by EMS.  The vehicle was towed, crews cleaned debris and the road was re-opened.

During the early afternoon of November 3rd, 184 and 183 were alerted for a large amount of smoke in the area of Coursin Hollow in Lincoln.  Engine 184 found nothing along Lincoln Blvd and the area of Coursin.  183 investigated Washington Blvd and found a large brush fire.

Crews were on scene many hours extinguishing the fire due to the terrain and wind conditions.

Also on scene were Glassport, Port Vue, West Mifflin 295, Elizabeth Twp EMS, Buena Vista, Central, White Oak, and Gallatin Sunnyside.

After a quiet month of October, November started out with a bang.  Shortly after midnight on November 1st, 2009 we were alerted to assist Port Vue with a residential structure fire on Woodland Avenue in Port Vue.  Tanker 184-1 and Engine 184 responded and assisted with fire extinguishment and overhaul operations.  Also on scene were units from Port Vue, Liberty, Glassport, Dravosburg and White Oak.

On Sunday evening, September 13th, we were alerted for a house filled with natural gas on Johnson Street in Port Vue.  Tanker 184-1 and Engine 184 both responded and assisted on scene with ventilation and removal of flammables from the house.   The gas company was requested to the scene and once the house was ventilated Chief 237 had all units clear with the exception of Engine 237.

Thanks to everyone who came out to donate blood for Dot Vay’s blood drive.  The event was a great success!

Your participation is greatly appreciated to help one of our own.  There will be a blood drive for Dorothy on September 11th, 2009 from 1pm-7pm at our fire station.  Everyone who knows Dorothy knows she always cared for others before herself, now is time to give a helping hand back.  Please see the below flyer for more details.

Shortly after 8pm on Sunday August 30th, Captain Bertok & Firefighter Thomas heard screeching and a large crash near their residences.  Both investigated and found a single car into the guardrail on Liberty Way just below Finney and 2 males walking outside of the vehicle.  Captain requested Lincoln PD and Engine 184 non-emergency to the scene for cleanup and traffic control.  The driver of the vehicle was able to limp the vehicle onto a turnaround/widespot at the side of the road to get it off the roadway.  Engine 184 responded and applied oil dry and swept the street clean of debris.

The driver apparently had his throttle stick as he was making a left turn onto Liberty Way from Finney and drove into the guardrail.

Engine 184 cleared once things were cleaned up and Lincoln PD stayed on scene awaiting a private tow.
