February had a strange start and we were dispatched for a tree on fire on Dora Drive in Lincoln on Monday February 1st. Engine 184 responded with a crew of 4 and found a standing tree on the side of the road burning from the bottom up. There were no power lines or any other ignitable sources near the tree. Liberty Rescue 183 responded to assist as well. They were staged at Mable and Dora and then returned shortly after. Engine 184’s crew extinguished the fire with a water can and trash line. Cause of the fire is under investigation, but sources believe it may have been caused by squirrels smoking in bed.
On Thursday January 21st, 2010 crews were alerted for a possible chimney fire on Liberty Way up from the fire station. A passer-by reported seeing 3 foot high flames coming from the chimney.
