Shortly before noon, on Friday September 19th, we were dispatched to San Juan Drive in Port Vue at the Westwood Apartments for a kitchen fire.  Fortunately, the owner was able to extinguish the fire before it grew and major damage was avoided.  Our tanker responded to and stood by the scene until Port Vue’s Chief determined our services were not needed and we were cleared and back in service shortly after.

High winds blew through the area during the evening of Sunday September 14th.  Our engine crew cleared trees  from the roadway along Liberty Way in three different locations including near Calhoun, near Virginia Drive, and just below Washington Blvd.  Luckily, no other major damage was reported as the remnants of Hurricane Ike moved through the area.
