March 19th, 2011 – The middle of March has become busy with a steady volume of both fire and ambulance calls.  Recent fire calls over the past few days have included landing Life Flight 5 at Breznay field for a medical emergency, a mutual aid tanker assist to the Glassport dump for multiple brush fires, and a reported structure fire in Port Vue that ended up being a false alarm.

The members have been busy lately with a rash of fire and ambulance calls over the last few days.  Calls included a smoke alarm activation at a residence on Liberty Way in Lincoln due to a microwave issue and burnt food.  Both tankers responded to Forward Twp to assist with a large brush fire caused by a tree knocking down a power line in a field.  The wind spread the fire to some large hay bale and our tankers were requested due to the remote location.

During the afternoon on March 3rd, units were dispatched for a single vehicle accident with injuries on West Smithfield Street.  Crews arrived on scene to find a vehicle with a guard rail through the back window.  There were 2 passengers in the back of the vehicle at the time of the crash.  One person was flown via medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital and another was transported via ground to a local hospital via Ambulance 610.  Liberty 183 assisted on the scene, and Port Vue 237 responded to Bellbridge soccer field for the landing zone.  Elizabeth Twp EMS and Lincoln PD were on scene as well.
